EXCO's venue expansion goes smoothly Daegu City and EXCO announced plans for new exhibition hall space expansions in 2016. The new exhibition spaces which are set to debut in June 2021, will be built next to the existing halls which are currently located in the enterprises complex. The expansion will add an extra 15,000sqm of exhibition space. In toal, EXCO will have over 30,000sqm of exhibition space on the groudn floor. Included in our plan is infrastructure that will connect visitor and locals with new exhibition hall and subsidiary facilties, parking spaces, and various exhibition support facilities. The new exhibition halls will be divided into two to three halls aimed at a variety of uses from international shows to public events, highlighted by corridor areas and easy linkage with the existing building. Daegu Exhibition & Convention Center (EXCO) aims to host more exhibitions in the second half of the year in preparation for the expansion of its exhibition hall in 2020, according to the EXCO chief. “We will increase the operating rate of exhibition halls and foster related professionals in response to the expansion of exhibition halls in 2020,” said Kim Sang-wook, chief of EXCO, in an interview with The Korea Herald.By December 2020, EXCO will offer 30,000 square meters of exhibition space on the first floor.

The 14th International Congress of Parasitology (ICOPA 2018) will be held at EXCO, Daegu from August 19th to 24th in 2018. Under the main theme: ' Parasites: Harms and Benefits to Animals and Humans', the ICOPA 2018 is expected to attract more than 2,000 participants from all around the world in the field of parasites' studies. This congress is hosted by the ICOPA 2018 Korean Organizing Committee and co-organized by the Korean Society for Parasitology and Tropical Medicine (KSPTM) and the World Federation of Parasitologists (WFP).
ICOPA, the International Congress of Parasitology, is one the important summits for parasitology and takes place every four years. Last year's congress was held in Mexico. Daegu has been named as the venue of fourteenth congress which competed with Bangkok, Thailand in 2014.
